Student Awards

Since 1950,  through its Student Awards Program, the NJIC has honored outstanding seniors majoring in chemistry,  biochemistry, chemical engineering  or a related chemical science at  New Jersey’s public and private colleges and universities.  This award is given to students who are nominated and chosen by their department faculty members, in recognition of their demonstrated ability, leadership, and excellence in the chemical sciences.  The NJIC Student Award has, from its inception, included excellent representation by women and minorities, as well as students from diverse backgrounds.

The Awards dinner, traditionally held on the third Wednesday in April, has served to recognize the accomplishments of each individual student, as well as further encouraging them to pursue professional excellence.

Over 1700 graduates have been award recipients. Some of these individuals have chosen to continue their chemistry education by earning higher degrees, some have ventured forth into medicine, still others have found positions in industry. Whatever walk they have chosen, they have all made a positive contribution to industry, academia, government and the healthcare professions.
